Arabesque Stole

The word “arabesque” is a musical term which means “decorative musical material or composition based on florid embellishment.” We think this lace knitting stole exemplifies the word in knitterly terms, being decoratively embellished with lovely lace throughout!

This is a garter stitch stole with Shetland lace motifs and every row knit. The stole is started at one end with a lace edging. Stitches are then picked up along the straight edge and the body of the stole is worked from this end to the other. After the body is completed, the lace edging is knit sideways onto the live stitches. It is easy to make a longer or shorter stole by working more or less repeats of the central diamond motif. NOTE: Fiddlesticks Knitting patterns are charted. Recommended for Advanced Intermediate lace knitters.
