Gossamer Glamour Scarves
These gossamer, ruffle-edged scarves will add a glamourous note to any wardrobe. Dress them up over evening wear or drape them casually over T-shirts. Either way their delicate beauty will give your outfit instant cachet.
Both scarves are worked by casting on at one end and working to the other end. Short rows worked simply as turns (no wraps or complicated shaping) create the softly ruffled edges. These are garter stitch scarves. NOTE: Fiddlesticks Knitting patterns are charted. Recommended for Intermediate lace knitters.
Recommended yarn for each scarf
1 ball laceweight yarn, each ball 50 g / 500 m. Samples knit with 50% mulberry silk / 50% merino wool laceweight.
Finished size of each scarf
#1 – Inner spiral = 48 inches and outer spiral = 115 inches
#2 – Inner spiral = 52 inches and outer spiral = 108 inches
Note: longer scarves can be made by increasing number of chart repeats (will use more yarn)
Needles
3 mm (US 3) 24-inch needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
Gauge in garter stitch:
20 stitches and 40 rows = 3.75 inches square after blocking
