Madame Butterfly Stole
Inspired by the beauty of Japanese lace knitting stitch patterns, Madame Butterfly pays homage to Puccini’s great tragic opera, in which the Japanese heroine is sadly betrayed by her lover. Our stole has no such sad ending, though, but is a joyous celebration of the beauty of Japanese stitches!
The stole is worked in two halves, each beginning with a decorative border and progressing to the
diamond studded lace panels. Once completed, the two halves are grafted together with Russian Grafting (explained in the
pattern). This is a stocking
stitch stole with lace worked
on one side only. NOTE: Fiddlesticks Knitting patterns are charted. Recommended for Intermediate lace knitters.
