Wavy Lace Scarves

The Wavy Lace Scarves explore what happens to the edges of knitting when yarnovers and decreases are offset. The Wavy Leaf Scarf (top) expands and contracts, emphasized by a leaf motif which “grows” up the middle. The Wavy Bee Scarf (below) employs a more subtle wave which moves from side-to-side in a sinuous fashion, with “bees” buzzing up the middle. Either one is fun to knit as you watch the stitches take on a life of their own!

Both scarves are worked in stocking stitch by starting at one end and repeating the chart until desired length is achieved or yarn is used up. Recommended for Intermediate knitters, however, the Wavy Bee Scarf is a bit more challenging due to the interesting Bee lace motif. Detailed explanation of how to work the motif is included. Recommended yarn for each scarf

2 balls DK-weight, each ball 50 g / 115 m. Samples knit with 100% raw silk yarn.

Finished size of each scarf

Can vary, but approx. 7.5 inches wide and 46 inches long. A longer scarf can easily be worked, but more yarn will be required.

Needles

3.5 mm (US 4) needles
(needles with pointy tips such as Addi lace knitting needles are recommended for the Wavy Bee Scarf as it makes it easier to perform actions such as “purl 2 together through the back loops”)
